Ebrahim Soltani, Counseling Intern

I see therapy as a collaborative process where we work together to have a better understanding of your experiences, challenges, and goals. I aim to create a safe and supportive environment where you can speak openly and feel genuinely heard. I believe that being truly listened to is a basic human need, and that this experience can be a powerful part of healing.
My approach is trauma-informed and draws from narrative therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I’m interested in the stories we carry about ourselves and how our thoughts shape how we feel and act. Together, we can explore those patterns and find ways to move toward a life that feels more meaningful and manageable.

I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, life transitions, relationship stress, grief and loss, and educational challenges. I try to bring curiosity, respect, and a nonjudgmental attitude into each session.

I am currently a counseling intern and a master’s student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Eastern Michigan University (expected December 2026). I also work as an associate professor of political science. Before entering academia, I practiced as a medical doctor, which continues to shape how I think about care in a holistic and human-centered way.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading novels, listening to music, biking, and watching soccer. I’m a big fan of Manchester City.
