Larissa Danz, Counseling Intern

I believe counseling begins with feeling truly seen, heard, and understood. My goal is to create a warm and welcoming space where you can be yourself, talk openly about what you’re experiencing, and feel supported as you work toward the changes you want to make. I see counseling as a collaborative process, and I believe you are the expert on your own life and experiences.

My approach is primarily person-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused. I believe that even during difficult seasons, people have strengths and resources that can help them move forward. Together, we can explore what is important to you, better understand the challenges you’re facing, and identify practical steps toward growth. I also believe that our relationships, culture, identities, and life experiences all play an important role in how we understand ourselves and the world around us.

I have a special interest in working with children, adolescents, couples, and families. Before becoming a counselor, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and spent seven years as an elementary school teacher. Working closely with children and families has been one of the most meaningful parts of my professional life and has shaped my passion for helping people feel supported through life’s challenges. I have also completed Level 1 training in the Gottman Method for couples therapy.

I am currently a counseling intern and master’s student in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Central Michigan University. I feel incredibly grateful to be continuing my journey from education into counseling, and I look forward to getting to know each client and supporting them along the way.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy reading, crocheting, and spending time with my family. I value the simple things that bring connection, creativity, and a sense of calm to everyday life.
