Angie Masinde, LPC, ATR

As a counselor and art therapist, I seek to support clients toward holistic healing – mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, and spiritually – from a multicultural perspective. I endeavor to understand and honor each client’s unique experiences and worldviews and adapt my approach to best meet their needs within a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment. My goal is to empower clients with the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to overcome challenges from their own strength. I also seek to help clients find purpose and direction in their lives and communities. I use an integrative practice drawing primarily from person-centered, cognitive-behavioral, existential, and solution-focused approaches. I specialize in working with adults but also have experience working with couples and teens. I can also provide counseling from a Christian perspective if requested, but am very open to working with individuals from all faith or non-faith backgrounds.

My therapeutic work combines traditional talk therapy and art therapy, which integrates active art-making, the creative process, applied psychological theory and human experience to facilitate expression and insight. Art therapy engages the mind and body in ways that are distinct from and beyond the limits of verbal communication by using visual, sensory, and symbolic experiences. Anyone can benefit from art therapy, regardless of age or skill-level. Art therapy has been shown to improve cognitive and sensory-motor functions, foster self-esteem and self-awareness, cultivate emotional resilience, promote insight and personal growth, enhance social skills, and reduce and resolve conflicts and distress.
